pre-diagnosis to stabilisation.

The add-on qualitative interviews capture the emotional journey and provide information on the meaning behind the quant data

Experiences and perceptions of patients with chronic conditions

Pre-task diary exercise

Patients take part in a 5 to 10-minute qualitative exercise each day for 3-5 days in the week prior to the tele-depth interview in order to capture ‘in the moment’ feelings and behaviours related to their condition.

Results from the pre-tasks are discussed more in depth with patients in the telephone interviews.

Tele-depth interview

Patients take part in a 40-minute tele-depth interview.
Topics included:

The challenges of living with their condition (emotional, physical and social)
Treatment satisfaction and switching
Unmet needs in managing their condition

Qualitative patient diary exercise

Qualitative research not only includes in-depth interviews, but also pre-task exercises prior to the interview
